What makes Bridge, Bridge?

WE ARE

Bridge Community Church is a Reformed Independent Church in the Liberti communion of churches throughout the greater Philadelphia area. We work together with sister churches as we seek to live, speak and serve as the very presence of Christ for the Philadelphia region, that together we might enjoy and share the freedom of His Gospel.

WE BELIEVE

We believe that Jesus Christ lived the life we should have lived and died the death we deserved to die. His resurrection from the dead is the central fact of both human history and personal meaning in life.

We believe that by trusting in him and letting go of our self-saving efforts and strategies, we find life, meaning, joy and purpose.

We are a people who are finding freedom and life as we are learning to trust Jesus, let go of our unbelief and fear, and find joy in the mission that he calls us to.

Our family of churches recognizes the Belgic Confession and the Heidelberg Catechism, as well as the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed, which the Church has affirmed across the centuries as helpful summaries of the essence and activity of God.

WE VALUE

At Bridge Community Church our values are found in all that you see and hear of us.

You will hear of Jesus, in songs, sermons and small groups. We believe that the triune God has revealed himself most fully in Jesus Christ. History finds its goal in his death, resurrection and ascension. As a church we want to proclaim this in ways that make sense to our souls.

You will hear people praying. Our great privilege is to talk with the Lord, speak to him of our need and his greatness, and participate with him in his work. You will hear pastoral prayer on Sunday, prayer in small groups, prayer in men’s and women’s groups, and individuals praying together.

You will see us living under God’s words in Scripture. In it he has given us everything we need for life and growth in godliness. We try to handle it carefully.

You will see youth engaged with each other and with the teaching of the church. They are blessed to be mentored by both staff and ministry volunteers.

You will see adults caring for our children in Sunday classes, Kid’s Club and everyday conversations. This comes from the value Jesus placed on children, our desire to see children discipled and loved, and our care for those who are weaker and less able than ourselves.

You will see diversity and hear hopes for more. We want diversity that represents our community in age, culture, race, politics and backgrounds. The greater our diversity, the more our love can grow and our oneness in Christ can be seen by the world.

You will hear of our activity in both the world and our local community, with special attention to the poor and powerless, showing mercy and justice. Our partnerships and ministries have emerged organically from needs, opportunities and personal passions. We believe that the Spirit has called all to ministry and service.

You will see and hear creative reflections of the character and work of God in music, the visual arts, teaching and writing.  We all have something to contribute, yet we also have many who are uniquely gifted.
